History:-
Chittariparamba is the name derived from the place where cultivated ‘Chittalari’ a kind of ‘ari’ (rice) familiar to the aged people.
The land was under Kerala Simham Pazhassiraja’s rule from 15th Century. The invasion of Tippu Sulthan and the British rule over the land were influenced the land much. The English army was faced frequent set backs with Guerilla warfare of ‘Veerapazhassi’. Kannavam is a small town in Chittariparmba Grama Panchayath where a brave commander of Pazhassiraja named Sangaran Nambiar was hanged to death by the British. Kurichiar under the leadership of Thalakkal Chandu was a great help to Pazhassiraja.

Movement againist Vannathimattu
Decades ago, a group of social leaders named Korothan Koran, Keloth Koran, Keloth Kunhambu, Puthanpurayil Paithal, Alakkodam Kanaran Vydiar, Karayi Vasu, Kanaran Gurikkal, Karayi Kunhiraman and U.Govindan Vaidiar alleged againist ‘vannathimattu’, a superstition prevailed among the Hindus. [Vannathimattu was the ‘mattu’ (dhothi /dress) served by a female member of Vannan Community (Schedulded Caste) to the Hindus who were believed to be polluted (pula) by birth or death in their families.] The movement was broken out at Vannathimoola.

1. തൊടീക്കളം ക്ഷേത്രം
തൊടീക്കളം ശ്രീ ശിവക്ഷേത്രം മ്യൂറല്‍ ആര്‍ട്ടിന് പേരു കേട്ടതാണ്. ഇത്തരത്തിലുള്ള അപൂര്‍വ്വ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ ഈയിടെ പരിപാലിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി.

2. മാനന്തേരിയിലെ സത്രം
മാനന്തേരിയിലുള്ളതും വളരെക്കാലം മുന്പ് പണികഴിപ്പിച്ചതുമായ സത്രം ഒരു ചരിത്രപരമായ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള കെട്ടിടമാണ്. ദീര്‍ഘദൂരം സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന കാല്‍നടക്കാര്‍ക്ക് അഭയം നല്‍കുന്നതിനായി കൊല്ലവര്‍ഷം 1112ല്‍ കൈതേരി മഠത്തില്‍ കുഞ്ഞനന്തന്‍ നന്പ്യാര്‍ പണികഴിപ്പിച്ചതാണിത്.

1935ല്‍ പുതുശ്ശേരി വേണാടന്‍ അച്ചുതന്‍ മാസ്റ്റര്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ച ജ്ഞാനപ്രകാശിനി യു പി സ്കൂള്‍ ആയിരുന്നു ചിററാരിപ്പറന്പിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ യു പി സ്കൂള്‍ പിന്നീട് കുഞ്ഞനന്തന്‍ നന്പ്യാര്‍ സ്കൂളിന്‍റെ സാരഥ്യം ഏറ്റെടുത്തു. 1966ല്‍ സ്കൂള്‍ ഹൈസ്കൂളായി ഉയര്‍ത്തി. 1973ല്‍ സ്കൂള്‍ ഗവണ്മെന്‍റിന് കൈമാറി. പിന്നീട് വീണ്ടും ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി സ്കൂളായി ഉയര്‍ത്തപ്പെട്ടു.

റോയല്‍ കോളജ്

1979ല്‍ സ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ട റോയല്‍ കോളജ് എന്ന സ്ഥാപനം ഈ അടുത്ത കാലം വരെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. 33 വര്‍ഷത്തെ സ്ത്യുത്യര്‍ഹമായ സേവനത്തിന് ശേഷം വിദ്യാഭ്യാസരംഗത്തെ മാറിയ സാഹചര്യത്തെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഡിഗ്രി നിലവാരം വരെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നല്‍കിയിരുന്ന ഈ സ്ഥാപനം നിര്‍ത്തുകയുണ്ടായി. (2011ല്‍)
